We want to know more about you, tell us 5 random things.
1) I eat like a 5 year old. My favorite food - hamburger, medium and with ketchup only
2) I once flew to London, England for a concert
3) When I find a song that I like, I'll listen to it on repeat for days (sorry J)
4) I value hard work, empathy and generosity in others
5) I don't like rom coms, but I can watch old episodes of Scandal, The Challenge and Suits everyday
What do we need to do to prep for our family shoot?
Very little! Come ready to snuggle and love on each other. Stay open and flexible as our session will be dictated by the weather and probably the moods of the littles. Don't worry about the chance of a child meltdown - we'll keep it light and fun for them. I would bring any snacks that we can bribe the little ones with. I’ll have waters there for you as well if it happens to be a warm day.
What does our session look like?
An intimate, honest lifestyle type shoot. Genuine connection is what we’ll chase. I won’t pose you, but will prompt you. Some will be silly, but will make it easy to capture you guys! We will definitely take advantage of our setting and make it a little adventure. I like to capture who you guys are naturally, so most of the time I won't have you looking directly at me or the camera (think a 75%/25% split).
How many photos will I receive? Do you provide every photo that you take? Do I get the unedited images as well?
You can see what each session includes here.
But in general:
- Family shoots receive 40 images
- Couple & engagement shoots receive 50-75 images
- Weddings (6 hours) receive 200 images
I try to over deliver and include a few extra, but the above are good guidelines and will be outlined in your contract.
No, I do not provide the RAW or unedited images. Part of the service that you are purchasing is a finished professional gallery. My goal is to build trust with you throughout each interaction, so that you feel comfortable with me curating a gallery uniquely designed for you.
You will receive your gallery 3-4 weeks post session/wedding.
How do we book you? How much are your sessions?
I'm so grateful that you're considering having me photograph your family or special day.
You can get info on sessions here.
You can book me here.
Once we secure your date, I require a 25% non refundable deposit to hold your date. Remainder is due on the date of the session.
Don't worry - all of this information will be included in your contract and we can review at any time!
I don't see pricing for maternity photos, do you take them?
I think that we're most successful when we pair what we're good at with what we're passionate about. I will occasionally take maternity photos for existing clients, but am happy to recommend photographers who specialize in that. In addition, I typically don't photograph events, high school seniors, large weddings or extended families. I have a list of photographers that would be good for each.
That being said, if it's an event and you're looking for a photography donation - please reach out for consideration.
What's your editing style like?
You can check out galleries here, but if I were to describe it - I'd say elevating what's naturally there, deep darks, earthy undertones, bright whites and a pinch of mood.
I ask that clients keep the integrity of the image and edit that I provide.
Let's make sure that we are a good fit on both shooting and editing style!
Why did you choose to support Teach for America KC?
I talk about that on the bottom of this page.
What do we wear?
I don't have firm rules on outfit choices, but coordination always works. Neutrals or neutrals with a pop of color are always welcomed. You will be moving a lot in our session, so I would recommend wearing what makes you feel comfortable AND beautiful. Things that have flow and/or texture are always great. I will also send you the pricing guide that has visuals.
In short, I love helping coordinate - so feel free to text me options if you need any help!
What if the weather is bad?
Living in the Midwest - we know that our weather can be unpredictable and I can't stress enough how important it is to stay flexible that day. But also know that especially with littles it doesn't make sense to be out in the bitter cold. I'll be watching the weather and will message you if the weather is iffy. It'll be up to you if you'd like to reschedule or keep our original date. I'm always up for an outdoor shoot! Crossing my fingers and praying to the weather gods that we'll have a 60 degree weather day.
